Grammy award winning Espernza Spalding did a spread for “Instyle” magazines May 2011 issue. She is a jazz artist, who sings and plays the bass. She is not only a fantastic performer, but she has gorgeous Natural Hair. I became aware of who she was about three years ago and it was at that time I fell in love with not only her hair, but her music. I’m from New Orleans and jazz was something I was always around. So when I heard her music I was drawn to find out more about her. It was then I noticed her hair. It seemed to fit her personality and honestly, just to see her was refreshing. A woman of color, who is an artist that does not have straight hair and not wearing weave (not saying there is anything wrong with that at all) is not something of the norm. Now it is even more fantastic than it was back then. It is larger and more in charge. I love it.
Here are some pictures from the spread she did for “Instyle”. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I did when I initially saw them.
